Lorton Volunteer Fire Department Fire Station 19 is one of 12 private, non-for-profit fire companies working in partnership with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, to provide emergency and non-emergency services to protect lives, property, and the environment. Career staff are professional Firefighters employed by the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. They staff the station 24-hours a day and work closely with volunteers to seamlessly provide services in and around the Lorton area.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department is a combination career and volunteer organization providing fire suppression, emergency medical, technical rescue, fire prevention and educational services to more than one million citizens. Fairfax County encompasses 395 square miles of urban and suburban development, 10 miles west of Washington, D.C. Fairfax County has 35 Fire Stations staffed around the clock by approximately 1,100 career personnel supplemented by more than 500 volunteers.
